Saving the Corporate Soul - And (Who Knows?) Maybe Your Own [ 8.Apr.2006]

Batstone reviews the work of companies like Ven-A-Care, Chevron, Clif-Bar, Home-Depot, Ikea and others in eight different categories. His chapter titles read like a grocery list of corporate issues: Leadership and Governance, Transparency and Integrity, Community, Customer Care, Valuing the Worker, Respect for the Environment, Equality and Diversity and lastly Globalization.

There is plenty of content in this book that corporate executives and professionals can use as a source of inspiration to help guide their decision making. The cynics can rightly point out that most of what Batstone writes about is common sense but the actions of many of the individuals and companies recounted in his book prove that common sense might still be a rare currency.

I highly recommend this book for Business Professionals and Ethics Consultants. It contains just enough history to demonstrate how individual choices in a business environment can really make a difference.
